THE BLACKMORE HOME

I’m having flashbacks to earlier in the year when the Blackmore family visited. A chance encounter, we were selling our beautiful home and they were on the hunt. It was a love-match. Mrs B was smitten by the McNamara’s house #7. While it didn’t end in a sale, the crush for fine-detailing and colour consistency had left it’s mark. So when the Blackmore’s went on to buy, a phone call took place, “Nikki, will you emulate a very similar look at our place?” I jumped.

Unashamedly 1970s board n batten, the Blackmores had found a renovation project with a capital R. There was also a 3-year journey to find this home, so I wanted to get it beyond perfect. Completely stripped of all original surfaces, there were some incredible discoveries along the way. My favourite? The ceiling detail, highlighted with feature lighting.

If I could theme this project, I’d call it ‘considered decisions’ – every choice made, from input on colour, to textures, furniture and wall linings, every little inch has been through a thoughtful process, resulting in a stunning home worth waiting for.
